IndyKids Kid Reporter Program Workshops
Want to become an IndyKids reporter and have your work read by people all over the country and world?
Attending our writing workshops is the best way to write for IndyKids.
Through our news writing workshops, students are guided on an in-depth exploration of media literacy and learn how to become critical journalists. Working one-on-one with professional journalists, editors, writers and educators, students take part in every aspect of producing the IndyKids newspaper – from pitching, researching and writing, content production, interviewing, on-the-ground reporting, editing and finalizing their work for publication, and finally, distributing the paper to a growing, national audience of their peers.
Already attended a writing workshop? That’s fine! With our guest speakers, podcasting opportunities, and one-on-one mentorship, each workshop is unique and students are encouraged to return.
“I wish IndyKids could be in every community, it’s such a valuable resource! My child has developed critical thinking, writing, listening, public speaking skills, and more as a member of the IndyKids reporting team for almost three years. IndyKids has helped reinforce the idea that “the news” is not something abstract- -it is for us by us; meant to be a part of our daily lives.”
