IndyKids Volunteer Opportunities
Do you have a passion for children’s literacy and progressive journalism? IndyKids helps students age 10-14 improve writing, reading and research skills while learning about social justice issues and world events that aren’t always covered by mainstream children’s media. We’re looking for dedicated volunteers who have a background in journalism, writing or education to mentor our Kid Reporters.
Mentor a Kid Reporter
As a mentor, you will be working with students age 10-14 years old at our Kid Reporter Program workshops in New York City to guide them through brainstorming, research, writing and editing their articles for the IndyKids newspaper.
Become an Editor for IndyKids
The IndyKids newspaper is published four times a year and is written by kids age 10-14. As an editor, you will assist the editor-in-chief with revising articles written by our Kid Reporters in order to prepare them for publication in our newspaper. Experience with AP Style is a plus!
