Your Turn: Should the U.S. Help Find Joseph Kony?

By JANAYA WILDER, age 12

The U. S. military agreed to send troops to assist in the search for Joseph Kony, who is charged with war crimes in Uganda, Africa. Do you think what the United States is doing is right? IndyKids asked these kids in the New York/New Jersey area what they think.

I’m not sure. I’m against children being soldiers, but I don’t like the idea of the U.S. army being used to stop him. -Sidney, age 7

Lucy

What the U.S. is doing is good, but I wish this all could have started earlier. This has been going on for so many years and has been unnoticed. -Lucy, age 12

Rory

The U.S. should not go there because there is a one in two chance that Kony’s already dead. Even if he isn’t dead, there are already people in Uganda who have been trying to stop him. -Rory, age 12

Lily

They shouldn’t stop until we find him. -Lily, age 13
