Forty percent of food in the United States is lost between the farm and the landfill, according to a new study by the Natural Resources Defense Council. Losses occur at the farm, continue through processing, packaging, transportation, sale and preparation, and end with the kitchen garbage can. At the same time, one out of every six people in the United States does not have enough food to eat.

All this “waste” could be feeding kids in other poor countries.
