The United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan is causing major problems for Afghans, including 1,450 children who were evacuated as unaccompanied minors fleeing the Taliban, a militant group that has regained control of the country.Â

Since the Taliban overthrew the Western-backed government on Aug. 15, 2021, only boys, men and younger girls have been allowed to return to school.
For many American kids, going to school is a chore, not a privilege. However, Malala Yousafzai, a girl from Pakistan’s Swat Valley who had been fighting for equal education since she was 11, risked her life to attend school.
