Monarch butterflies are now endangered, says the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Scientists predict that monarch butterfly populations have decreased by between 20 to 90% in the last few decades.Â

In 2004, there were approximately 500 million monarchs that made the migration to Mexico. Last year, that number was 60 million. This year, it was only 33 million.
