“Rock, Paper, Scissors” has been found to be not just a game of random chance. Studies show that people may, without even knowing it, copy their opponent’s actions, causing repeated ties. Scientists believe that humans are prone to mimicking the behavior and gestures of other people. To prove this theory correct, scientists played the game blindfolded, and realized there was a difference in the outcome of the game when opponents were looking. Playing the game under normal circumstances (without a blindfold), participants were tempted to copy each other, so that they wouldn’t lose.
