Powerful Tornado Causes Major Destruction in Oklahoma

On the afternoon of May 20, 2013, a tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma. The tornado killed 24 people, including nine children. According to the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, about 2,400 homes were damaged in Moore and Oklahoma City, and some 10,000 people were directly impacted by the tornado. The cost of the disaster will be higher than that from the May 3, 1999 tornado that hit the same area.
