We took a trip to Governors Island to talk to and learn about several different organizations there. We interviewed representatives of Flux Factory, Billion Oyster Project, Climate Imaginarium, KODA, Extinction Rebellion and the NYC Climate Writers Collective. All of these groups were part of Governors Island Arts’ annual Organizations in Residence program. Volunteers, artists and activists work on a variety of projects here, such as restoring a billion oysters to the New York Harbor or making art out of recycled materials. Meeting these people truly showcased the importance of art and climate activism in Governors Island’s community.
