President Obama gave the oil and gas company Shell permission to drill for oil in the Arctic Ocean. Scientists and environmental groups claim that the risk of pollution from spills is too high.  Should an accident like the 2010 BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico happen, it would be more difficult to clean up due to the cold climate, sea ice, and distance from services. The area is home to whales, walruses and polar bears.

  1. Though I disagree with Arctic drilling, I think you are doing students a disservice here because you didn’t offer any information on why President Obama made his decision. Thus, you are not giving them the opportunity to understand the issue and they will be poor advocates due to lack of information.

You’ve done a poor job here.
