“Home” is the perfect movie to watch in this day and age when our world is faced with serious environmental problems. Directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and narrated by actress Glenn Close, “Home” is a documentary that shows how humans have destroyed the Earth despite being a relatively new species on the planet.
The film is creatively shot from an aerial view, which gives the audience the feeling of both wonder and pity towards the Earth. Arthus-Bertrand successfully stirs environmental consciousness in the viewers by showing actual consequences of humans’ carelessness towards the environment.
However, “Home” differs from other environmental documentaries in that it does not seek to scold, but instead tries to give people hope. The film ends by showing the different projects that are currently under way to save the earth, rather than focusing on the destruction caused by humans. By watching this movie, the audience not only knows what the environmental problems are, but also what they can do to help.
It was important to Arthus-Bertrand to get his message across, so he has waived his copyrights for this film. This way, people everywhere can easily watch “Home” for free.
