Tell us about yourself.
I’m Scarlett Mora, and I’m 12 years old. One of my favorite hobbies is listening to music, because it makes me calm down. I also love being with my friends, because they always make me laugh and I always have a great time with them. Another one of my hobbies is sewing!
As a young journalist, what is your favorite article you’ve ever written for IndyKids and why?
One of my favorite articles I have written was the recent cover story, “U.S Immigrants Are Living in Terror.” While I was researching it, I learned a lot. I also like this article a lot because I was so into the topic and wanted to learn more and more.
Pretend you’re talking to a kid who has never heard of IndyKids. How would you describe IndyKids and the experience of writing an article?
I would describe IndyKids as a great program if you are really into journaling and just writing in general. Also, you will meet a lot of great people who will help you through everything with your article. This is also a great program because this will help you with your writing skills!
Can you share something you’ve learned from your experience at IndyKids?
Something I learned from my experience at IndyKids is that you always write about anything. Also, don’t repeat words in a sentence, and always have a catchy title and headline so people can get interested about your article. And most importantly, no AI!
How do you think being a kid reporter contributes to raising awareness and promoting positive change in your community or the world?
Being a kid reporter contributes to raising and promoting positive change in my community by sharing knowledge with the world trying to influence people about the topics.
