On August 28, the team from Columbus, GA, defeated the team from Kawaguchi City, Japan, to win the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, PA. The final score was 2-1.
Cody Walker, 13, hit a two-run homer for the only runs needed to win. Twelve-year-old pitcher Ryan Carter struck out 11 batters as the Columbus team became the second U.S. team in a row to win the series.
