Election Round-up

By IndyKids Staff

On November 7, Americans voted for the candidates they wanted in the Senate, the House of Representatives and state and local legislatures. After many years under Republican control, the Democratic Party will now make up the majority of Congress, which means Democrats will be better equipped to challenge Bush’s policies.

Democrat Nancy Pelosi is expected to become the next Speaker of the House. She would be the first woman to serve as Speaker. And Democrat Keith Ellison of Minnesota will become the first Muslim U.S. Congressman.
